My thyroid is on the low side of normal?

My doctors say that my thyroid is normal, but my naturalpathic doctor says that its on the low side of normal, meaning my thyroid isn't working as efficiently. She wants to put me on a thyroid supplement. My doctor thinks that it could possibly be my CPAP that I wear for sleep apnea. She said that if the prescription is off, it could cause my problems, as well as if the mask doesn't fit could also cause these problems. I have anxiety, panic attacks, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, low blood pressure, low temperature, hot flashes (I'm only 22 years old), blurry vision, etc. etc. the list goes on. Has anyone else had trouble with this? Any suggestions would be great!

Need testing for ANTIBODIES as well as TSH. TSH should be .3 – 3 but would not matter if antibodies are present. (WARNING: Doctors seem not to want to find this) May have to go to more than one before you get the right tests, interpretation, and treatment.

What is a pulse pressure?

I'm 20 years old with hypertension. I was put on Atenolol on Saturday and my doctor told me to buy a digital blood pressure monitor and keep a log of my blood pressure. What I don't understand is the pulse pressure....I thought it was the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressures. I took a reading and my blood pressure is 131/76(this is after atenolol) but it shows the pulse as 102. Shouldn't my pulse be 55?
I'm on 50 mg Atenolol, just in case you needed it.

The pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic (top number) and diastolic (bottom) blood pressure. Sounds like your monitor is counting your pulse which is the number of heart beats in one minute.

Best Stethoscope besides Littman, HELP!!?

I have a Littman II SE, which I am ready to toss. I cannot hear most murmurs unless they are totally obvious. I have tried even the Littman III Cardiology scope but it does not even compare to my vet's Philips Rappaport-Sprague scope. Unfortunately, they are now discontinued and I cannot find one for sale anywhere. I even like the $30 Prestige Sprague better than my Littman....
I have listened to an ultrascope which is better than mine, but I am not keen on carrying that bulky scope everywhere....
I would like to find a stethoscope that comes close to the Philips (formerly HP) scope that is not digital....
Can someone please Help?

As a RT I use a stethoscope all the time. I think the best one is the one you can hear out of. Weather it cost $100 or $12 as long as you can hear what you need to hear. When you go to shop for one try it on and listen, can you hear the noises around you? Then use it on people in the store (clerks other customers, just ask most dont mind you listening to them.) then decide. Thats how I decide which I am going to buy.

The small amount of butter won't really do them any harm, just use regular butter. If you have a heart healthy margerine like Becel, that would be even better.

1 cup of sweetener would be equal to 24 packets of SweetnLow.

Make sure you add the same amount of liquid as the sweetener. In this case, because it calls for 1 cup liquid sweetener, you need to substitute 1 cup of water AND 24 packets of Sweet N Low.

If it just says 1 cup of sweetener, it probably means a dry sweetner like Granular Splenda, and you wouldn't need to add any water at all.

ok..i think i have diabetes but im not so sure yet.
so far i have had these symptoms:
- i started sweating more(this is my #1 concern cuz iv never ever had a problem with my hygiene)
-i crave sweet stuff all the time
-leg numbness
-my vision is blurry
-headaches
-i get tired really fast/i dont have energy to do things like before
-i cant really look at anything bright i kinda have to
close my eyes
-i feel sick most of the time.. like my stomach would hurt alot and i kinda feel like throwing up
-i brokeup with my ex a while bak and i dunno if that has any effect
-maybe diarea as well..
-dark circles around my eyes
-dry skin (iv always had try skin..but before when i would moisturize my skin, the cream would last longer on my face)

You can also follow these tips to help ensure accuracy when you measure your blood pressure at home:

Before using a monitor for the first time, have your doctor or nurse check its accuracy against the office model. Also have your doctor or nurse watch how you use the device so that he or she can see if you're doing it properly.
Take your blood pressure at consistent times, such as in the morning and in the evening.
Use the same arm whenever you take your blood pressure. Note that many digital monitors are meant for use only on the left arm.
Don't measure your blood pressure immediately after you wake in the morning. Wait an hour or so. If you exercise after waking, take your blood pressure before exercising.
Avoid food, caffeine, tobacco and alcohol for 30 minutes before taking a measurement.
Go to the toilet first. A full bladder can increase blood pressure slightly.
Sit quietly for three to five minutes before taking a measurement.
Sit in a comfortable position with your legs and ankles uncrossed and your back supported against a chair.
Rest your arm, raised to the level of your heart, on a table, desk or chair arm. You may need to place a pillow or cushion under your arm to elevate it high enough.
Don't talk while taking your blood pressure.
Place the cuff on bare skin, not over clothing. Rolling up a sleeve until it tightens around your arm can result in an inaccurate reading, so you may need to slip your arm out of the sleeve.
Take a repeat reading two to three minutes after the first one to check accuracy.
If your monitor doesn't automatically log blood pressure readings or heart rates, write them down in your own log.
Take the monitor to your medical office annually to be calibrated. If you drop the device or damage it, take it in to be checked before using it again, as it may no longer work properly.
Your blood pressure at home is usually slightly lower than it is in a medical office, typically by a measurement of about five points. For instance, a reading at home of 135/85 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) is about the same as 140/90 mm Hg at the doctor's office.

Talk to your doctor about what your home blood pressure goal is. If you have diabetes, chronic kidney disease or cardiovascular disease, you may need a goal lower than that of someone without these conditions.

Blood pressure varies throughout the day, and readings are often a little higher in the morning. But contact your doctor if you have any usual or persistent increases in your blood pressure. Also ask what reading should prompt an immediate call to the medical office. In addition, if your home reading shows that your blood pressure is higher than normal and you experience symptoms such as severe headache, chest pain, numbness or tingling in the face or limbs, contact your medical office immediately or seek emergency treatment.
