Hows the freestyle lite glucometer?

love it for my type 1. has 7 day, 14 day, and 30 day averages for your Blood Glucose, it's pretty handy. No coding is great, sometimes I forgot to code on the Freestyle Flash, and I would get skewed results. Has good memory, you can go back and check results from weeks ago. (Not sure how many results it stores). Backlight is handy too. It's pretty light, fairly small. I would recommend it.

Yes, Doctors in some states can prescribe a liquid form of Cocaine to end stage cancer patients.

Marijuana can be used to help with pain, nausea, and possibly anxiety. It is a great alternative to some of the harder narcotics commonly rx'ed for some people. Although, if we are talking about end stage cancer patients, marijuana may not serve the needed purpose. For me, part of the benefit was that it was milder than the things my doctors were giving me. Often in end stage treatment, something that mild may not work.

As far as I know, Florida is NOT a medical marijuana state. I do know that marinol can serve some of the same purposes. It is a synthetic thc available by rx, and can be filled at most any pharmacy nationwide.

Im not a doctor, but I believe cocaine can be used as an anesthetic. I know it can be used topically to numb the skin.

fifty50.com sells all kinds of different cases/bags, etc. We've also used fanny packs. Macy's sells pouches you wear right on your wrist. They're not specific for diabetes, but they work great and are just small enough.

There's a woman on ebay that makes pump pouches, great patterns, geared for the diabetic's gender and age. She advertises pump packs, but I've written to her offline for more customized things. Do a search on ebay for pump packs or pouches. Or write me offline if you can't find it that way (I think it's called the Pumpin' patch), I might still have her contact info.

my wife got a ticket for (permit passenger without seatbelt).the passenger at the time was elderly 83yrs lady.Everyone had the seatbelts fasten before the car start.In fact,my wife told the officer that she help the old lady fasten seatbelt and do not know when during the ride her belt was unfasten when caught by the officer during spot check for drinking/.The old lady was wearing adult diaper at the time and discharged a bit .(we belive that old lady must remove/readjust her belt during the ride). she was sitting second row of van.The officer knew/learnt about the smelt of diaper odor.and ask old lady for ID,but took a while(short few mins) for poor old lady to search her own wallet able to produce piece ID(health card) without photo(her only passport /and photo citizenship left at home.),the officer would'nt take it Instead,the officer ask the driver(my wife) for driver licence and give my wife Ticket.......Moreover ,old lady has diabetic as well as poor eye version....

I am writing a research paper about how advancements in technology are allowing diabetics to live healthier, more comfortable lives. I would really like to find some sort of graph or chart the shows a decline in deaths caused by a diabetes (it's a research paper, yet we still have to take a position).

Could this be diabetes? and Which is the preferred test to diagnose in kids?

My son is 10 and quite overweight.
(Yep, I know that's a bad thing. No, we aren't junk food junkies. Yes, we need to increase our family's activity level and we are working on that.)
He has gained 11 pounds in 2 months (approx a 10% increase)! Took him to doc for check up. Kid is also tired. No other obvious diabetes syptoms. Tested thyroid--OK. (Mine is low.)
I have heard of rapid weight gain being a symptom of diabetes, although it's unusual. I mentioned this concern to doc and that type 1 & gestational diabetes are in my family plus lots of type 2. He said that only weight loss rather than gain would be a sign & didn't test for diabetes. On the other hand, I think if I request it, he'll probably do a test.
Could this be diabetes? If so which test is preferrable for children for detecting even pre-diabetes?

Peter H appears to be the only one ... so far ... to notice that you mentioned diabetes insipidus. This is totally different to, and totally different to diabetes mellitus.

I have a tendency to believe that what the chemist is going to test you for is diabetes mellitus ... 'sugar diabetes', as it used to be called many many years ago. (It happens to be the way that doctors were able to explain that it indicated there was an excess of sugar present in a person's system.)

Even if the chemist does find sugar present, the law does not allow them to make an official diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. You would still have to see a practising doctor for that diagnosis to be made.

If it does turn out to be diabetes mellitus, and dependent on the type ... there are two main types; type 1, which means you are insulin dependent, and means that you will have to have insulin injections, and type 2, which used to be termed non-insulin dependent. Both types mean that you'll have to stick to a diet and take exercise. With type 2, however, diet and exercise may be enough to control it, though many type 2 diabetics do take medication ... usually starting with tablets, though insulin may also prove another option.
