I always hear that, so I do.... but exactly what am I looking for? I've seen pictures of those nasty diabetic foot ulcers, but I am sure they just don't pop up on your foot overnight.
You are looking for anything unusual. Most importantly are open sores or splinters, etc. Diabetics are prone to having altered nerve sensation and may not be able to feel if they have suffered injury.
Also look for calluses that are new or growing and thickening. Callouses are signs of skin irritation that can lead to breakdown and wound formation.
Look for red or scaling skin. Athletes foot can cause skin disruption that can lead to later bacterial infection.
Warmness, discoloration or swelling of your feet can be signs of infection, vascular problems, or breakdown of bones in the feet.
Diabetics without complications should have their feet examined once a year. I personally tell some healthy, young, and under control diabetics that every 2 years is ok. If you do have complications, you should be seen at least every 6 months. Patients who have open wounds and/or skin or bone infections may have to be seen every 2 weeks to every 2 days depending on how severe the problem is.

i took my car to a repair shop to have the clutch replaced. got it back with a busted coil pack and a small dent on the hood from the inside. the dent cracked the paint but its a very small area. normally i wouldnt worry about a dent of this size but there is also a couple small cracks so i dont want it to rust. repair shop said they would compensate me for it. got a quote from maaco for 375. wondering if there is any cheaper options to seal up a small paint crack in my car?
Contact the appropriate dealer (i.e. if it's a chevy contact a chevy dealer) and give them the VIN number for the car (this usually can be found on a plate at the front of the drivers side of the dashboard which can be read from the outside) and order touch up paint and a clear coat touch up for the vehicle. Follow the directions on the paint and clear coat--apply the touch-up paint first then the clear coat touch up--and then finish by applying a car wax (Turtle wax and Meguiars are good brands). Remember that you must allow the proper amount of drying time as shown on the labels on the touch-up products between coats. This should prevent rust. Hope this was helpful! =)

Raised ketone level in urine test?...no diabetes...?
Hi,
I have been testing my urine recently as we thought I had a UTI, but I haven't All results over the past 3 days have been absolutely fine..
I checked it again tonight however, and the Ketone level was raised alot? But no other things were raised high (e.g Glucose, Blood etc..) All the others were ok. No glucose at all. And I have also had a diabetes test a few months ago and thyroid, they were both fine.
I am just wondering what could cause this? The only info I can give you what might affect it is:
- I have high stress and anxiety at the moment
- I currently have a sinus infection, and been treated with Antibiotics for a week
- My diet isn't that good either, I haven't eaten much today and then eaten alot in one go..
So just wondering, any ideas?

Six years ago, age 29, I had high bp readings. I was prescribed clonidine. At the time I was taking remeron. Now I have discovered remeron is an alpha 2 blocker and clonidine is an alpha agonist and that remeron is known to cause hypertensive emergencies in those taking clonidine. For the last six years I have been a moderate drinker. No more that two drinks a day. I have told my doctors this and none thought it was an issue. Now I have learned that alcohol has the same effect in combination with clonidine as does remeron. For most of the past six years I have taken effexor which also raises blood pressure. None of my doctors thought this was a problem.
After discontinuing remeron, effexor, and stopping drinking my average sytolic bp has dropped by 25 points.
I consider the all of the doctors I have seen for blood pressure over the last six years INCOMPETENT.

your drs are idiots, but without a huge medical fiasco, you're going to have a hard time convincing a lawyer a lawsuit is worth their time. you'd end up wasting a lot of $ in legal fees without much return. unless you have damages to claim, other than prove your doctors are fools you won't accomplish much.

I am 19 yrs old and ened up in the hospital unresponsive from low blood sugar?
I have diabetes in my family but i was drinking saturday night and ended up unresponsive to even the paramedics. My sugar was at 47 when they got it tested. i recently got my gallbladder out and they told me blood tests showed my pancreas was irritated as well. I read online that pancreas can also cause low blood sugar. I got really freaked out by this but wanted some answers because the doctor didnt tell me much other then i was hypoglacemic. Any help on how bad i actually was and what it could be
Excess insulin from overly productive beta cells in/on the pancreas as well as 'insulinoma' could cause low blood sugar resulting in hypoglycemia. But more likely in your case, it was the drinking. Excess alcohol causes the liver to go into an 'emergency' mode in order to rid the body of the toxic substance. In the process, it stops converting stored glycogen into glucose allowing blood sugar to drop if you're not consuming an adequate supply of carbohydrates while drinking.
47 isn't really low enough to cause those symptoms, but that's not to say that you weren't considerably lower before being tested. You didn't mention how much you drank.
