Help!!! Diabetes, and yeast infections?

ok, i am 21 and recently diagnosed with diabetes type 1. my doctor told me i could have had it for years, and because i am so young other doctors wouldnt think to test me for it...so Ive only had one yeast infection before diagnosed. i was diagnosed 3 years ago and since then had three yeast infections...so my questions are
-is it the diabetes, or the medication that causes the yeast inf?
-what are ways to avoid yeast infections?
- is it in any way sexually transmitted..
-is having too much sex one of the issues?
-can my doctor prescibe me yeast infection meds ahead of time, so that i dont have to go get a prescription each time?

There are several causes of yeast infections.
One is taking antibiotics.Many women almost always get an infection after a course of antibiotics. They kill off the good bacteria in your vagina and lead directly to an infection.
Yeast grows in sugar.If you've ever made a yeast bread you know you must add just a bit of sugar to help the yeast raise.
A vagina is a nice dark warm place where excess sugar can be found- this is a great place for yeast to make a home.
With diabetes,we may need both the cream and the pill or two pills since we have a harder time getting rid of it.
As someone else stated, your sexual partner most likely has it if you do and you are not practicing safe sex.Make sure he sees his doctor for treatment so he doesn't give it to you again.
Practice safe sex.A diabetic women should see a perinatal doctor well before becoming pregnant.
